Requirements A minor must contain at least 9 hours of upper division course work. Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas I through V may not be counted as course work in the minor. Courses taken in Core Area VI may be counted as course work in the minor. Students seeking a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies must complete 18 hours as follows: Required Course: (3 hours) LACS 1000: Introduction to Latin America and the Caribbean 3 Electives: (15 hours) One Latin American History course (HIST 2221 or HIST 2222) 3 An advanced course in one language from the region (SPAN 3010 or SPAN 3010H or PORT 3010 or FREN 3010 or FREN 3010H ) 3 Three LACS courses representing two or more of the three areas of Latin American and Caribbean Studies (scroll down to the "Major Requirements" section): Social Sciences; Humanities, Art, and Music; Environmental Science, Policy, and Historical Preservation 9 TOTAL HOURS: 18
